Using Social Media in Product Management – 2011 Survey

Brainmates is conducting its annual survey investigating the use of social media in product management.

We invite all individuals working in product management and product marketing roles to take part. It’s a short survey and will take less than 5 minutes to complete. The results will be made freely available.

Our 2010 survey into the use of social media by Product Managers and marketers shed some light on how social media is being used across the spectrum of activities from ideation through to product development and in-life product management. The results helped us prepare our white paper “Collaborative Conversations: using social media in product management” (that’s a free download – check it out!).

Rather than ask about what tools and technologies were used, we ask respondents to state their use of social media in four functional applications as well as outline whether they intended to increase or decrease this in the coming twelve months. The functional areas investigated are:

  • Promoting and sharing
  • Monitoring
  • Gathering feedback
  • Collaborating

We received 70 complete responses for the 2010 survey and hope to get many more this time around.
