Brian Lawley of the 280 Group recently penned a Product Management Manifesto which initiated discussion and contentious reaction from the Product Management community about the value of having such a Manifesto.
Through the Product Management Manifesto, Brian has demonstrated leadership in the Product Management community by creating and sharing his vision for Product Management. It reflects his passion for the profession. Its a great “Passion Statement”.
The Manifesto may motivate Product Managers to come to work and do a better job, but the “problem” of succinctly telling others what Product Managers do is still not resolved.
To keep it simple, perhaps the best description of a Product Manager is someone that “identifies and develops profitable products that customers love”.
