What is product management?

What is Product Management?

Recently, the Brainmates team has been discussing definitions of product management. We’ve talked with each other, with clients, friends and colleagues in the product management community.

It’s an interesting discussion and one with many views and opinions. We’ve put together this brief presentation that seeks to answer the question “What is product management?”

We investigate the definitions of product management and its goals. We look at some of the core responsibilities of the role and how these translate into day-to-day activities. We also share some thoughts on how someone interested in a career in product management might go about it.

We’d love to hear your thoughts and comments. What does the role mean to you? How do you structure and categorise the responsibilities, tasks and actions? What advice would you give to someone interested in moving into a product management role?
